Overall, I've found this project quite enjoyable yet difficult, mainly due to the struggle I've had with the script and creating a decent idea that invokes the desired feelings and thoughts within the viewer but still being sensitive myself so as not to add to the sexism that I'm highlighting. I'm happy with where the idea has ended up, having come all the way from a step-by-step representation of the Heroine's Journey, but recognise that I need to work some more to reintroduce that sense of conflict within the story that has been dropped over time. I'm also unsure that the deeper meanings behind the scenes (woman as carer, woman as prisoner, etc) are recognisable to viewers who have no prior knowledge of my project and what I'm attempting to convey.

I'm pleased with the direction the art took over the course of the project as I applied a lot more colour than I usually do and had a rougher style as opposed to my usual which is generally far more neat and controlled. At times though, I do think the storyboards and animatic can be hard to read as there is a lack of definition in the characters and scenery that could have been reached had I given myself more time to draw everything out as I did for the background of the Mulan exterior scene which looked much better-rendered than any of the other scenes. On top of editing the script, I have to design more concepts for props used in the animation as, so far, there are no concepts or turnarounds for the boat, bow, quiver, hook or cars - all of which will be needing proper designs to be taken forward into Maya.

While I have enjoyed the process of creating this animation, I am unsure whether it's something I'll want to continue through to Year 3. As I hope to work as a 3D character modeller after graduating from University, I think it may be more beneficial to design, model and rig a character to a professional standard which can then be used to apply for work. I'm still unsure of this so I'll be discussing this idea further in the future.

I think this project went very well overall. I was put into a group with Michaela and Douy which I was very pleased with as I know they both complete their work to a high standard. Through the pre-production we had a little bit of trouble coming up with a cohesive story that fit the brief well, but as soon as we did, everything calmed down and we were able to get together to do all of the work necessary.

Our group never had any arguments and were always able to calmly discuss any problems we had with where our project was going.

The concept art process was a lot of fun as I turned the blank Moom model into a recognisable Superhero - I think there could have been more added to the models to give them slightly more character, although I feel I got them to a point where they're each recognisable as their comic book counterpart without spending unnecessary time.

I don't usually enjoy animating very much, as I prefer the process of taking my concept art and then modelling it all, but I found that I really enjoyed animating the Flash and Batman scenes a lot, although I do feel that I could have done a better job when Flash is going down the stairs as it feels slightly static at the moment.

After I finished animating my scenes, I creating our 'Making Of'. I think it turned out well as I tried to make it seem like a more professional printed 'art of' book, although I think the general design and placements throughout the document could have been more appealing and engaging - I'll definitely be using more reference material in the future to create a better Making Of.

After this project, I definitely feel that I'd be open to the idea of collaborating for the final project as the whole process of working with a friend and sharing our ideas to make the project better was a lot of fun and a great experience.

Overall, I feel that I could have done better for this project. I've had a rough time physically and mentally over the course of this term and it caused me to go majorly off-track. My time management definitely could have been significantly better, as I felt extremely rushed and stressed towards the end, which could all have been averted had I been on top of everything.

I would have liked for my animation to have been more finished, as I think the animations could have been refined, specifically the cells splitting. However, I am quite pleased with the way the Bifrost simulations turned out as I had never gone anywhere near simulations in Maya and had to learn how to utilise it from the ground up, although this did take up a significant amount of time that could otherwise have been used in improving the other aspects of my animation.

While the voice actor isn't well-received by everyone, I think that he worked well with the overall feeling that I wanted from the animation; relaxed and educational. However I do agree that he speaks too slowly at times.

Generally, the whole term could have gone a lot better, but I'm happy with the way the animation turned out and am proud of myself for successfully using liquid simulations which isn't taught in the first year.

I feel that this project went rather well and exceeded my personal expectations when it came to the overall process of taking the product from sketch to final render. I managed to overcome quite a few issues with my concept, orthographs and render with some help and was able to troubleshoot with Maya without much difficulty. However, my time organisation was quite bad throughout, especially at the beginning of the project and would work in bursts as opposed to a steady stream as I was in the ‘Invisible Cities’ project. This lead to me to fall behind with the written work, mainly the Film Reviews.

For future projects, I will take this experience into account and ensure that I stay on top of everything as it comes in so I don’t end up having work left over at the end of the project.

I found that, overall, this project went well. I started with an open mind which allowed me to be quite free when it came to creating my thumbnails and taking my selected ones forward to be finalised. Fortunately, I started working on the day we were given the brief which helped a lot with keeping on top of everything as more work like tutorials and movie reviews were given throughout.

I am happy with my final images, especially the Interior Establishing Shot. I struggled a fair amount with the Low-Angle Shot because I thought it looked quite bland and uninteresting but, with some help, I was able to bring some colour and life into the image.

I've definitely taken criticisms and help on-board and will be sure to use it all in future projects, especially the tips I received about colour and lighting.
