As Phil preferred the less mossy look, I made some more variants with significantly less moss. Also, to create a more aggressive and less 'human' appearance, I designed 5 with the bark forming spikes, and 6 with more root-like feet.

Which of these designs works best? And what do you think could be improved?
    Any feedback would be appreciated.

The original design was too muscular, so I slimmed down all of the limbs and head to give it more of a hunter-like appearance, as this creature stalks its prey from the trees and hunts at high speeds.

After getting some feedback from classmates, I decided to create more variants of the rendered faces. I shortened the horns of 1, removed the eye from 3 to create a slightly creepier and less 'human' look, and also shortened the forehead.

These are both based on my two favourite concepts from my last post (numbers 3 &5) which I rendered in Photoshop to give myself a better idea of colour and textures on the characters. I'll now decide which of these two I prefer (or whether I need to paint more faces), and then get to work on creating some body variants.

Before experimenting with colour, I decided to paint my selected faces in greyscale to help add interest and contrast to the different textures. While these characters are made entirely of wood, it would look quite boring if every part of them was the same, especially around the face as that will be a focal point.

These faces are mostly a mixture of previous sketches  to create something more interesting and closer to finalised. At the moment, I'm mostly liking the look of 2, but I'll take a few of these faces into Photoshop to neaten everything up, start working on colour, and make any necessary changes.

With these sketches, I was trying to discern what male/female variants of the creature would look like, as well as how their foliage should look. At the moment, I'm liking the look of branches protruding from some of their joints (especially around the torso) and their heads.

I'll continue trying out different shapes of leaves for their foliage but think that keeping everything small and spindly looks the best, at least for smaller creatures. Perhaps larger leaves would look better on the quadruped?

I'm liking the look of 1 and 13, so I'll most likely recreate those designs in Photoshop and make some variations of them, and make them look a little more rigid and skinny, as well as slightly alter the overall pose of 13, especially the arms. On top of exploring more in terms of overall design, I want to experiment more with their faces, as I think it would be interesting if they wore some kind of masks or decorated themselves in some way, perhaps actually carving their faces into the shape of masks as they're made of wood.
